Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, an American-Canadian singer and songwriter. She has produced more than 20 studio albums. DiFranco has released over 20 albums. Ani Difranco has been deemed as a feminist icon and a Grammy award winner. As one of women's first artists of the 1990s, DiFranco created her own label. DiFranco was born on the 23rd of September 1970 in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Dante Americo DiFranco. Her mother hails from Montreal and her father is of Italian origins. Her song 32 Flavors was composed by her, and performed by Ani. This song was released in 1995 on the sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl. The track was included in the soundtrack of the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 when it was revealed that she was planning to hold the three-day workshop on a Louisiana plantation for slaves. The course was later cancelled but she didn't show any regret. DiFranco issued a new apology a couple of days later than the initial. While she has been known by the name of Little Folksinger, her music spans many genres and collaborators ranging between Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince. New Orleans is where she is based. Ani is Kristen Ford. When she was 14, she started writing her own songs. She performed them in bars and coffee houses throughout her teenage years.
