AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) is a striker. She also serves as captain of the San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the top division for women's professional soccer. From 2018 until 2020, she co-captained the women's national soccer team of America with Megan Rapinoe. [8][9The 9 Morgan was drafted as the number one player in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she was able to graduate early from University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. The team made her professional debut and assisted the team in winning the league championship. Morgan was just 22 at the time, and was the youngest player on the national team for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team came in second. She scored the match-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final match at the 2012 London Olympics. She finished 2012 with 21 goals, 28 goals and 28 assists and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score 20 and 20 goals. It made her the sixth-youngest U.S. player ever to hit 20 goals in a season. She was subsequently named U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year , and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan played a key role in the United States winning their titles during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the FIFA Women's World Championships in 2019. She was named to both the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
